I have made some lynx drawings to study their anatomy and facial structure, and markings, of course. Before I am going to fully develop a character I want to be able to draw their species well enough for them to be recognizable as such species. What I mean is that I do not want my Lynx to look like a domestic cat or lion, but as a lynx and nothing else. So I picked some random photos from the internet (found mostly on Flickr.com ) and sketched them. The sitting Lynx in the upper left corner is a tad feminine though. I found that a certain marking above the eye is very common and I have decided that my Lynx shall have that too. He won't be a very fluffy lynx though, as he'll live in Germany and the lynxes there don't get as fluffy as, say, a Russian lynx gets in winter. I have settled on his face markings, but the spots on his body are still being worked on so you can expect more coloured lines with conceptual markings soon! :D
and a name, I am still looking for a German name, why must names be so hard...
Sketches 'n Concepts
In this blog I shall post sketches and concepts for possible new characters. Also inspirational pictures will be posted here.

Concepts for Lynx character
I coloured in some free lineart, kindly provided by http://cheepers.deviantart.com . I am trying to decide what my new character should look like, but I haven't really figured it out yet. I really like design number one, but I'm not sure yet. The face markings will be different than the ones shown here though, these resemble bobcats a bit too much.. Anyway, this new character is obviously a lynx, an Eurasian lynx to be exact. It'll be an adult or adolescent male with a rather serious nature, but also with a soft side. I think he'd be a very good fighter and would probably hate to lose one. Though he'd be brave I think he'd also be rather curious, and wanting to know everything about the world around him, and therefore be a traveler. Maybe he'd even spy on villages out of curiousity, but without showing himself of course! He'll be living in Central/Eastern Europe for most of the time, and I think I want him to be of German nationality, but I haven't completely decided on that. I haven't found a fitting name for him yet so any suggestions are welcome!

Tabitha says hi
Some sketches of my extrovert and happy-go-lucky male cat character Tabitha and Mayra, the dark coloured introvert female cat. :) I don't really like Tabby's expression in the running drawing, but I do like the pose so I just decided to post it anyway. I really like the upper left happy face and the lower right insecure face, both Tabitha!

Inspirational song!
yeah, I know this is neither a sketch nor a concept of anything but I just can't stop listening to this song. It makes me think of epic journeys and adventures and Sibirica and... mice! Mice of all species from all countries! Dunno why, it just does!
the song is called "Umineko no naku koro ni" and is sung by Shikata Akiko
